Decision summary
The posting to seek comments for the 2023 update of the Roadside Design Manual (2023 RDM) is closed. 21 comments were received related to the manual update undertaking. Comments and responses are attached. The 2023 RDM will be updated to reflect edits as a result of comments received and then published in the MTO Technical Publications website.
Decision details
The 2023 RDM includes updated lists and descriptions of roadside safety hardware, as well as guidance on their use, and of processes and policies used on ministry highway construction projects. Every effort was made to reflect the latest policies, guidance and products. However, it is understood that new products are introduced on a regular basis, and others retired.
Effects of consultation
A list of comments and responses is posted for information. Comments received helped identify key issues that needed addressing to make the manual a better product.

Proposal details
Draft updates to all five chapters of the 2020 Roadside Design Manual.
Individual chapters are attached in PDF format: a Track Changes version and a clean version of each draft updated chapter are included. A draft record of revisions is also attached which will be included in the final version of the manual.
Updated title page, table of contents, list of figures and tables are not included. These will be included with the finalized updated RDM after TCP comments are received to reflect the final document.
