Effects of consultation

SSP 999S02, October 2021 requires that bars be protected from construction operations in their immediate vicinity, including by abrasive blasting, pressure washing and concrete spatter by adequate covering or wrapping with protective material. The MTO’s contract expectations are clear with respect to abrasive blasting of GFRP bars and there is no known research on the impact of abrasive blasting internal FRP reinforcing to make any changes to this guideline or GFRP construction specification. The comment may be used as support to conduct future research about the topic.
