Proposal summary

MTO Prestressed Girder Guidelines is created to provide design guidance to maintain consistency in the design and improve quality of the designs. The existing set of structural standard drawings of Prestressed Concrete Box Girders and NU Girders Existing drawings has been updated to incorporate industry’s feedback. The new Structural Standard Drawings for the design details of Prestressed Solid Slabs have been created as well.

Proposal details

MTO Prestressed Concrete Girder Design Guidelines are created as supplementary information to Design requirements of CHBDC, MTO Structural Manual and Exceptions to CHBDC contained in MTO’s Structural Manual- Division and other related documents. The guidelines are meant to encourage consistency in selection and design of precast concrete girders, improve their constructability and quality.

Existing Prestressed Concrete Box & NU Girders drawings have been updated to incorporate some industry’s feedback and field practices. The drawing details for Box Girders B700, B800 & B900 have been compiled on SS107-13 while SS107-11& SS017-12 are being archived. B1000 is shown on SS107-14 & SS107-15 provides details applicable to all sizes of the Box girders. The NU Girder details are contained in SS107-16 to SS107-24. Two new drawings SS107-25 and SS107-26 are being introduced to present Prestressed Concrete Solid Slab design details.
