To promote and encourage the use of steel produced by Canadian manufacturers and fabricated within Canada, this policy memo outlines the approach of the Ministry regarding the use of Canadian steel. This memo provides design strategies for incorporating locally available plate sizes and steel cross-sectional types into structural designs. Additionally, standard specifications related to key Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS), including OPSS 903, 908 and 906 are being issued to guide contractors and ensure compliance.
