Decision summary
Following industry consultations, the draft specifications of OPSS 905 and OPSS 1440 have been updated.
The specifications will be published on the MTO’s Technical Publication website and implemented in CPS
Decision details
The MTO has addressed the feedback received through the TCP consultation by updating the welding and mechanical connectors clauses. Both specifications have been finalized for publication on the MTO’s Technical Publication site and for implementation in CPS.
Effects of consultation
As a result of TCP consultation and meetings with the industry, welding clauses are updated to allow welding if it is approved or when included in contract documents. The mechanical connectors clause has been updated to state the tensile strength requirement based on the grade of the rebar.

Proposal details
1. Improved text and definition of terminologies used in the specifications.
2. Reference to applicable specs included to avoid repetition such as for post-tensioning reference to OPSS 910 has been included
3. Based on discussions with suppliers and feedback from QAC and fabricators we have updated the “Associated Hardware” section to be clear about which type of hardware is allowed to use in which application.
4. Design and submission requirements now include the documents from fabricator regarding the use of mechanical connectors threading machine
5. Existing SSPs have been incorporated regarding the use of 500W steel on structural items.
6. Some other miscellaneous changes for further improvements

4
