MTO received comments and have made necessary changes in the memo. The updated memo along with Structural Standards Drawings will be published on MTO’s technical publication website
Decision details
The memo provides design guidance and details for the wingwall design of MTO’s projects. As a result of consultation, the wingwall reinforcement detail has been updated. Equation to calculate Design Length of Wingwall has been included in the memo. The updated memo will be published on MTO’s Technical Publication website. Structural Standards drawings SS105-11 and SS105-12 which are included in the memo, will also be published under the tab “Structural Standard Drawings” on MTO’s Technical Publication website.

Proposal details
For the guidance of MTO’s bridges designers the wingwall design aid was first included in 2008 in MTO’s Structural Manual. MTO has recently updated the design aid and related Structural Standard drawings (SS105-11&12) to meet CSA-S6-19 and MTO’s recently implemented policy of specifying 500W steel reinforcement for the design of new structures. The updated draft of the design aid also includes wingwall design tables for TL5 barrier.
