MTO has developed new Structural Standard Drawings for Traffic Barriers. The drawings have been organized into packages for ease of review, refer detail description below.

Proposal details

Package #1 (S110-4710,110-4720,110-5710,110-5720):
This package includes new set of Structural Standard Drawings for MASH TL 4 & TL 5 Moment Slab
Designs for MSE walls applications. These drawings are developed using both stainless steel (SS) and
GFRP reinforcement. The designs are based on a review of NCHRP Reports 326 and 1078, AASHTO LRFD
(2024), and CSA S6:25, with modifications to align with current reinforcement requirements.
Design tables are provided to assist designers in selecting appropriate slab dimensions. The Standard
Special Details (SSD) also include requirements for the MSE wall designer to account for impact loading
effects on the internal stability of the wall.
Package #2 (S110-5110,110-5120,110-5510):
This package comprises three SSDs, including a TL-5 MASH-equivalent parapet wall barrier with two-tube
railings designed with reinforcement options utilizing either GFRP or stainless-steel rebar. Standard
drawings for a TL-5 MASH-equivalent steel
Package #3(S110-4110 ,110-4510):
This package consists of a TL-4 MASH-equivalent parapet wall barrier with two-tube railings, reinforced with
GFRP rebar. Standard drawings for a TL-4 MASH-equivalent steel two-tube railing is also included in this
package.
Package #4 ((S110-5810,110-6210):
This package includes structural standard drawings for:
• Asymmetric Barrier with Moment Slab (to be used on highway for protection of structures
•Tall Barrier Wall without Railing, TL6 (this SSD is created for the sites where twining of bridges is required)
MTOD 3960.200 is added. This MTOD is a common reference to all SSD packages posted in this
submission. The drawing contains the standard details of barrier control joint & expansion joint.
