Decision summary
One set of three comments was received. Comments were relevant and appropriate and will have responses posted
Decision details
The single comment consisted of three parts. The first comment sought clarification if the drainage gap detail can be used to connect any type of barrier listed on the drawing with any other. The response clarified that it can. The second comment questioned whether the detail can be used with Type Z concrete barrier. The response clarified that it can be used as there is a standard safety shaped end detail that can be connected to the three-beam detail. The third question asked whether this detail can be used with restrained temporary concrete barrier. The answer clarified that the detail has typically been used to connect barriers with differing rigidity without apparent issue, however, the CDED guides designers to contact Highway Design Office when Category IV barrier is to be connected to lower-performance category barrier due to concerns with differences in rigidity.
