Analysis has shown that whether the boxes are connected for shear, or by a thick slab with two layers of reinforcement, there is little effect on the transverse live load distribution since this connection still has a small flexural stiffness compared to the box itself. Thus, a topping slab with two layers of reinforcement is not required.
This part could be simplified to just show the single layer rebar with 150mm toping are for shear design. the explanation of two layer seems not very necessary.
