Please see the following key points regarding our comments on the draft version of MTO SP599S23. Other various comments have been provided in the attachment. Thank-you.
1) Air Void Systems
- We believe the spacing factor for RSS wall panels should
be 0.230mm maximum which is consistent with the
requirements of OPSS 1350. RSS wall panels are vertical
and not typically subjected to the aggressive environment
of some other bridge/structural elements.
2) GFRP Reinforcement
- As outlined in the MTO Structural manual, GFRP
reinforcement for RSS panels is approved. We believe a
section should be added to this specification with the
requirements.
3) Lot Size
- The number of Lots for fabrication affects the pricing for the supply of the
RSS wall. We believe the lot size should be fixed at 500m2 maximum.
