• The ready-mixed concrete industry has been actively advancing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), with the first industry-average EPD published in 2017, followed by a second in 2022 transitioning to a regional approach that includes Ontario. Data collection for the third industry-average EPD has been completed, with publication anticipated in fall 2026.
• The Global Warming Potential (GWP) reduction methodology outlined in this section is highly prescriptive.
• This approach does not align with the Federal Treasury Board’s methodology for measuring and quantifying GWP reductions in the construction sector.
• The industry has made significant investments in developing product-specific Type III EPDs.
